Corporate Social Responsibility Builds Our Business

Our mission is to be the best supplier of building materials and services by having a people-first culture, exceptional customer service, and innovative solutions that create superior value for stakeholders. We recognize that the sustainability of our products and operations is important to the success of our company. Enabling homebuilders to become more productive and efficient is fundamental to what we do and is an integral part of our business strategy. Consistent with our core values, our goal is to be recognized as a pioneer by our customers, team members, industry, and communities.

We continuously seek to identify, measure and map the corporate social responsibility (CSR) impacts of our business to deliver long-term value. Our sustainability priorities are guided by stakeholders and third-party frameworks including the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), Building Products & Furnishings standard, and Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).

Our CSR strategy is built around four primary pillars core to our success: customers, team members, operations, and communities. To advance our vision of making home ownership more achievable for everyone while positioning Builders FirstSource as the most valuable partner in the industry, we know we must provide innovative and sustainable solutions for our customers. Our team members are dedicated to this goal, and we empower them to achieve it in a safe and inclusive workplace. We aim to have our operations exemplify our values through safe, effective and efficient processes to drive long-term value for our stakeholders. Through these efforts, we aspire to create a positive impact in the communities in which we serve.

GHG Emissions Reduction Target

By utilizing energy-efficient technologies and optimizing our processes, we drive strong operational performance, reduce expense and minimize our environmental footprint.

As part of this effort, we are targeting a 15% intensity reduction, per unit of net sales, in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2035, using a 2025 baseline. This target is the result of a thorough analysis identifying opportunities to operate even more efficiently in a cost-effective manner. These opportunities are in addition to efficiency gains already implemented, such as LED lighting, solar power at qualified facilities, alternative fuel vehicles, reducing fleet idle time, maximizing customer order efficiency through closest point shipping, and optimizing for reliable, on-time, in-full deliveries.
